day three-hundred-and-ten - flying fox

 not the fun kind

© jem barratt

actually were they fun?

might have to retry it as an adult.

in any case this guy is a pteropus something-something, or wing-foot. or flying fox. or furry batman.

day one-hundred-and-eighty - fox

think outside the fox

© jem barratt

kind of looks like a wolf. that's cool, i guess, seeing as they are both from the same family. foxes look a little more catty than wolves though.

and that's a scientific fact.

as usual, i had intended to draw a cartoony picture but instead drew another realistic felt-tip sketch. how thrilling of me. i am certainly trying my hardest to broaden my skills and create a diversely interesting blog.

anyway, i'm off (like a fox in the night)

day sixty-four - bat-eared fox

much like yesterday i have chosen a subject based on its funny face...

the reality is funnier than my drawing. the day i can capture such hilarity will be a happy day indeed. it's my goal in life.

bat-eared foxes have giant ears like fennec foxes, and much like their fennecy friends the ears help to cool the animal. apart from that, they're cute and they fit in your hand (or your pocket if you're lazy...)

day forty-one - fennec fox

WE ARE NOT BABIES!

© jem barratt

that's what the adelaide zoo has to say about fennec foxes anyway. don't discriminate just because they look like cute little baby foxes. they'll bite ya.

(they probably won't). what they will do is fox it up in the desert, use their giant ears to cool down, and get harvested for fur. a mix of good and bad there.
