they were found in port phillip bay in southern victoria and were confirmed this week to be a new species. they have such distinctive features as a curvier dorsal fin, snubbier nose AND fancier colouration (dark grey, mid grey and white - can't get much fancier than that [what about actual colours?] oh yeah...)
they were actually discovered in 1915 but the scientist at the time concluded that they were both common bottlenoses and one was just slightly different because it was a different gender. ah science...
go australia! make more animals while you're at it - i'd love a sloth australis please
