day two-hundred-and-twenty-six - xmas alpaca

i'm going to turn 'the twelve days of christmas' on its butt and do an xmas countdown series! and so the twelve days of christmas cards series of blog posts begins...

on the twelfth day before christmas, i made an alpaca card:

you can almost squeeze those lyrics into the actual song. and yes the twelve days of christmas should start on christmas day, but i don't care.

i'm full of 80s christmas joy, and laughter at stupid alpacas. so so stupid. and they are so fat of wool. and mental... to wit!

portmanteau in a caption!! portcapteau'd?

ok that's enough of that. good eve, until tomorrow the eleventh day until xmas!

day one-hundred-and-ninety - great egret

ah if only egret was spelled with an a (egrat), then its first name would be an anagram of its second name. linguisticising! (at first i spelled that with a semicolon instead of an l, that's how linguistically excited i am)...

and hey! i successfully drew an animal in the colour it actually is. it's a good day!

(please ignore the yellow above-beakness of egrets and the red on-beakness too...)

day eighty - quokka

© jem barratt

this is a less-well-executed version of an idea by my colleague the mantis:

when i am feeling less like a waving blow up caryard man that's been shot in the head (coupled with the sound of pacman dying) i will draw a series of australian 80s pun-imals.

in the meantime enjoy the cuteness of quokkas.
