day three-hundred-and-sixty-five - ???

a few people have asked me what i was going to draw for the final animal. and i had no idea. i sure wasn't going to put in any extra effort - why should i draw something special? it's just another day. obviously this project comes across as way more meaningful than it is.

but then i had a great idea. until now i have depicted animals i like. why not depict one i hate? i would art-ify the most evil and destructive of all animals...

humans. truly despicable characters.

but then i thought. who am i, the adelaide zoo? i'm not that lame. i'm lamer. and so i end with just another animal...

a mountain gazelle. just another antelope (and no i am not nude [and no, if you really need to know i am not actually an antelope {NOR do i really look like one - a failure all 'round}])

farewell no-one. i am a scientist now, and thus must give up on art.

day three-hundred-and-fifty-six - blesbok

an animal with three words in its scientific name... faaaaaancy

© jem barratt

they are only eyeless when drawn by a creative (read: lazy) artist

other than that they're just antelopes you know

oh except blesboks can interbreed with another type of antelope and they were nearly hunted to extinction. so they have some interesting tidbits i suppose

day three-hundred-and-fifty-two - grey wolf

forget beowulf. this is geowolf...

© jem barratt

the font was (retrospectively) a terrible idea.

but the wolf sure does look like a wolf. and he is most definitely grey. those are some solid facts you just can't argue with.

but why would you argue with a fact anyway? those guys are dicks...

p.s. this reminds me of my childhood, when i though designing sports team logos was a fun thing to do

day three-hundred-and-forty-eight - australian sea lion

i envisioned something much better than this:

oh well. i didn't envision sleeping on a couch last night, but that also happened.

oh life. oh liiiiiiiife. doo do do do.

you know what. i think i'd rather see a ghost than eat a piece of toast. if you don't know what i'm talking about then you are...

- a) not tired enough
- b) not familiar enough with 90s music

maybe i can end with more appropriate lyrics.

sea lion! sea lion! sea lion! sea lion!

day three-hundred-and-forty - nilgai (+ myna birds)

two-for-one!

© jem barratt

well nine-for-one. even better.

except the sheer number of animals means that the realism had to be sacrificed, hence the teal antelope. or antealope if you will.

g'night.

© jem barratt

day three-hundred-and-twenty-seven - jackal

i'll be honest. i was preeeetty hungover yesterday. and also i had to review a gig. so i decided myself too ill and time-poor to bother with animal drawing.

but today i have drawn seven. so get over it.

© jem barratt

this guy is chasin' some flamingos in real life, which i can totally relate to. but also it made me start to want to draw flamingos again and i had to quickly stop myself. (maybe next year i'll do 365 flamingos)

its ok.

meh?
