day three-hundred-and-sixty-five - ???

a few people have asked me what i was going to draw for the final animal. and i had no idea. i sure wasn't going to put in any extra effort - why should i draw something special? it's just another day. obviously this project comes across as way more meaningful than it is.

but then i had a great idea. until now i have depicted animals i like. why not depict one i hate? i would art-ify the most evil and destructive of all animals...

humans. truly despicable characters.

but then i thought. who am i, the adelaide zoo? i'm not that lame. i'm lamer. and so i end with just another animal...

a mountain gazelle. just another antelope (and no i am not nude [and no, if you really need to know i am not actually an antelope {NOR do i really look like one - a failure all 'round}])

farewell no-one. i am a scientist now, and thus must give up on art.

you may know the thompson's gazelle from such roles as 'lion fodder', 'babboon snack' and 'wildlife victim'. just once i'd like to see a gazelle be the eater not the eaten...

i feel the same way about zebras. so much so that i penned a poem about them and got myself in a poetry book in high school. if i ever draw a zebra (too much effort) i may quote from my poem.

until then here's a gazelle haiku:

a lion's dinner
food fit for africa's kings
they live to be killed

oooh so deep.

day fifty-five - mhorr gazelle

thus is the effect of bright posca on an equally bright folder divider. lucky for you this is only half-strength.

the animal in question is a mhorr gazelle and all i know pre-research is how gangly they are. so, so gangly. i guess i like gangly things (nictitate).

that's right, i played trivial pursuit and learnt a new word. gangly. so useful.

not as useful as captive breeding though. this guy is extinct in the wild thanks to excessive hunting (amongst other things), so zoo pops are good news.
