day three-hundred-and-fifty-eight - kentish plover

i got humiliated in a science prac today so i went to the zoo to feel better. and there i learned that plovers (specifically hooded plovers) are in trouble. how fortuitous that my drawing today is a plover, i thought, ignoring the fact that it was the wrong plover

and then i let a cockatoo try to tongue my bag (and jumper). it was awesome

so:
- like this picture please
- save some (other) plovers
- and go find a cockatoo to befriend

then you'll be just like meeeeeeeee

lucky you. xj

day two-hundred-and-ninety-two - piping plover

aw this plover is so cute!

not like this evil swooping fiend.

but the piping fellow can grow up to NINE LEGS! or do they?

i don't know, i'm tired.

p.s. at first i wasn't going to post this because my charcoal skills leave a lot to be desired, but now i kind of love it. interesting stuff, hey?

day two-hundred-and-seven - spur-winged plover

this is what i started yesterday. i decided i would salvage him with some more posca and some felt-tip...

© jem barratt

he's no wattled smoky honeyeater but he's ok. i definitely need to find a nice stylised way to do feather with posca. i also probably shouldn't do such big pictures in posca...

talkin' to myself.

in other news, how cool is this plover stamp? please ignore that a question is not in fact news, and instead fixate on how great life would have been when stamps were only 25c.

pretty good i imagine.
